MS Blood Drive a Success

Ed Dickinson and his Middle School faculty and students were up early this morning setting up for the Blood Drive. When I arrived at 6:45, there was a TV news truck in front of the gym. Ed had appeared at 6:15 on the Morning Show along with one brave 6th grader, Debbie Mergner. At 6:45, a hoard of Middle School students were being filmed at "the rock" beside the track. By 7:15, when I was interviewed, most of the equipment for the Drive was set up in the gym and people were beginning to line up to donate.

What a tremendous event! Our Middle School students had signed up enough donors to give over 180 pints of blood, making GDS one of the largest collection sites in the State. I couldn't be prouder of these young students who are already learning that no matter what their age, they can make a very meaningful contribution to their community.
